Leverage the Power of ChatGPT to Scale Your Sales and Marketing Workshop
The chamber hosted a workshop on understanding ChatGPT and AI for marketing with Peter Sabapathy online September 5. This workshop gave an introduction to chatGPT and understanding how AI language models work, reviewed the strengths and limitations of AI and where these could be applied, and an overview of tools and platforms that use AI to help grow you business.
Taylor Shop Local Showcase
The chamber partnered with Lattitude 56 who organized the Taylor Shop Local Showcase Saturday, September 21. This event had a map with 20 stops throughout Taylor for shopping at local businesses. There were 253 purchases made across the shops at this event with an additional 60 interactions at the visitor center. It was a great event and we hope it grows even larger next year.
Canfor Sawmill Closure Announcement
On September 4, Canfor announced the closure of the Fort St. John Sawmill by the end of the year, which will impact around 500 employees. This will affect everyone in some way and we will be preparing for this transition. More information will come on this topic.
Grand Re-opening of 100 Street
Fort St. John celebrated the grand re-opening of 100 street with a community celebrations and business crawl Saturday, September 28. This event featured a free lunch form Knapett industries, games, live music from Jody Peck and Lorissa Scriven and swag at the green space at 100 street and 100 ave.
National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 marks the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
The BC Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Reconciliation Education to deliver 4 Seasons of Reconciliation, a course designed to empower and educate. Members can take the course at the preferred rate of $49.75/person (an exclusive 75% discount). Used by many companies across the country as their go-to cultural onboarding tool, this unique 3-hour online course promotes a renewed relationship between Indigenous Peoples and Canadians through transformative learning about truth and reconciliation. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate issued by the First Nations University of Canada.
