Join "the women leading the way" for an insightful session on the Tu Deh-Kah Geothermal project, a groundbreaking initiative led by the Fort Nelson First Nation to reshape the energy landscape in Northeastern British Columbia. Spearheaded by Deh Tai LP, the Nation's economic development corporation, this project aims to build a vibrant, resilient future for the community and its neighbors.

Tu Deh-Kah Geothermal is set to become British Columbia's first geothermal electricity facility and one of the first in Canada. Currently in the early stages of development, the project plans to generate 7-15MW of clean, renewable electricity using a binary system with an Organic Rankine Cycle power plant, optimized for the region's low-grade geothermal resources. This initiative is a key component in achieving the Province of BC's and the Government of Canada's climate targets for net-zero emissions, offering a sustainable alternative to Fort Nelson's current reliance on fossil fuels.

This session will explore the broad socioeconomic benefits of the project, including its potential to counteract the economic downturn caused by the declining gas and forestry industries. By utilizing the excess heat from the geothermal system, the project opens up a cascade of opportunities for local businesses and long-term employment, positioning Northeastern BC as a future geothermal hub.

Join us to learn more about how the Fort Nelson First Nation's vision of a "Strong, Healthy, Proud and Self-reliant" community is driving this transformative project and leading the way in Indigenous-led renewable energy development.
